Myth 1: Wearing glasses will cause the eyes to deform.
The deformation of the eyes is the result of the lengthening of the eye axis after myopia, not the glasses.
Myth 2: There is no difference between true and false myopia.
The so-called "pseudomyopia" is a decrease in vision caused by excessive eye fatigue, which may be temporary. After mydriasis optometry, the refractive state shown is mild hyperopia, or no myopia, which is a completely normal refractive state. In this case, glasses are not needed. Many parents find it troublesome to fit their children with glasses in the optical shop without mydriasis optometry, which eventually turns pseudomyopia into true myopia.
Myth 3: Wearing glasses will increase the degree of myopia.
Many parents believe that wearing glasses will cause myopia to become deeper and deeper. In fact, in addition to genetic factors, the main reason for the deepening of myopia during adolescence is excessive close-range eye use and unscientific eye habits, and wearing suitable glasses can effectively prevent the deepening of myopia.
Myth 4: When fitting glasses, it will be required to match the degree lower.
The degree of glasses must be accurate, and it cannot be "overcorrected" or "left room". "Overcorrection" may cause children to feel dizzy after wearing glasses; "leaving room" may induce further myopia. When fitting glasses, children should be able to see things clearly, comfortably and for a long time after wearing them.

What should I do if my child is already myopic?
First, determine whether it is true myopia or false myopia. It is best to go to the ophthalmology department of a regular hospital and determine the results obtained by the doctor after dilation of the child. If the refractive power after dilation is normal, it is false myopia, and if the refractive power after dilation is myopia, it is true myopia.
Pseudomyopia
Pseudomyopia is not true myopia, but myopia caused by over-adjustment. Continuous close-up for too long will cause accommodation spasm, which is a myopia phenomenon in which distant objects are not clear. If a child has "pseudomyopia", you can let the child's eyes relax completely and let the eyes recover slowly, such as reducing close-up eye use and using ciliary muscle paralytics.
True myopia
On the one hand, according to the advice of doctors and optometrists, children should wear glasses in time to correct myopia. At the same time, attention should be paid to strengthening daytime outdoor activities, reducing close-up eye use and the use of electronic products to reduce the development of myopia. At the same time, go to the hospital every 3-6 months to review the vision, eye axis and refraction, dynamically understand the progress of the child's myopia, and take timely intervention and control measures.
